In what ways, both in and out of the classroom, do we demonstrate intercultural competence by helping students understand, respect, engage, and learn from diverse communities and multicultural perspectives? In what ways do we help seminary faculty and staff do the same?

Students:

IN 782 - Gospel in context intentionally develops competence and respect across multiple cultural settings including rural and urban (through immersion time spend in both settings), at least three, if not more, religious settings (typically Catholic, Mainline Protestant, Evangelical, and/or Pentecostal) as well as, typically, unique racial minority contexts including African American and/or Hispanic. Six attached itineraries.

MN630: The attached Reading Appendix, from which students select two books, include men and women of multiple Christian traditions (Mainline, Evangelical, Methodist, Anabaptist, Anglican, Pentecostal, Reformed, etc), nations (US, Netherlands, Canada, Australia), and racial/ethnic identities (white Euro-American, African American, Asian American, Hispanic American, Puerto Rican).

Faculty:

Faculty travel funds have supported participation in conferences and other culturally-enriching experiences.

Me and Dr. Forshey participate in "Spirituality Day" for Nursing and PA students, which features speakers from multiple religious traditions.  https://www.facebook.com/DubuqueSeminary/posts/pfbid02GYXomNs1uszjzwpYCaZ5WdWeiqd21wLBuJE7gQmcewiLtSipY4egnkbPMusBN6AJl

I was on a panel for a Children of Abraham event along side Muslim and Jewish co-panelists.

Our faculty represent some regional, cultural and ecumenical diversity.
