Hey everyone!
It is a great privilege to take a part in this exciting journey
My name is Chan Kim. I have been married for 7 years now, and have 2 adorable boys, Elias (4) and Ezekiel (2).
I was born in South Korea, but moved to Cambodia as a missionary when I was 7. I moved to Michigan when I turned 18 to study at Kuyper College in Grand Rapids MI. I graduated with Music and worship, bible studies, and New Testament degree, and upon graduating, I continued on my education at Calvin Theological Seminary (M.Div).
However, God called me to minister the youth at Chick-fil-A, impacting the community with positive influence. I took leave of absence to work full time at Chick-fil-A, and 4 years later, my family decided to move to La Crosse WI to help open up a new CFA restaurant. If you want any free chicken, please let me know!
Now I am a Kitchen Director mentoring 3-4 young highschool/college age workers to become God honoring leaders in the restaurant and community.
On top of that, I provide pulpit supply for my church, as well as leading worship once a month.
The reason why I decided to come back to school is I had this crazy realization that I am becoming a person who chases money more than God. That realization led me to closer relationship with God, and needing a new career direction. I do not know what that looks like but I know that God is calling me somewhere else. While I have been trying to figure out what that looks like, one of my mentors Martin and Amanda Benckuysen suggested Dubuque Theological Seminary.
I am a little scared to see where God is going to call me since I am very comfortable right now but I am also very excited to see what God has planned for me
