With respect to the UG Theology Department:
1. Priorities: The priorities of the UG Theology Department serve the UD Mission of creating a "hospitable Christian environment" and UDTS mission of "growing in the Church's biblical faith in the Triune God." One key task has been developing a general education theology curriculum. The priorities for that program are as follows:
"The Theology Department at the University of Dubuque contributes to the mission of the whole
University by offering general education theology courses that invite every student to engage with the classic texts and contemporary questions in the discipline.
To this end, each course that fulfills the Theology Gen-Ed requirement must:
-
Engage in theological reflection about who God is, including God’s character and revelation in Scripture and in Jesus Christ, and what that means for who we are as human beings and persons in relationship;
-
Explore how the Christian faith calls us to live in response to God's initiative through focused study at the intersection of Christian theology and another arena of life (for example, Bible and Black Experience, Food and Faith, Theology and Technology, etc.)
