...to ... Join God’s Mission.
We are a Christian seminary dedicated to forming God’s people for servant leadership in ministry and mission:
• Gathering in gratitude and faithfulness, to be reformed according to the Word of God.
• Growing in the Church’s biblical faith in the Triune God.
DMin projects typically proceed from a solid biblical foundation, framed by tested theological principles, and develop according to a careful analysis of their implications in light of specific circumstances and challenges presented to a congregation or a context for ministry. In short, they bring to bear the Church's biblical faith to identify how the Triune God is at work, and how the church can be a co-laborer with God, to address the needs of the world in our time and within our given spheres of influence.
• Living as faithful stewards of God’s gifts.
DMin candidate are increasingly coming from part-time and fiscally challenged congregations, so financial aid for study is becoming more common and urgent. As Director, I refer students to the few sources that are available for doctoral study, but I have also conveyed this need to UD's Development department that they might share this with the Trustees, who regularly express interest in supporting existing programs.
• Engaging the changing needs of the church and world
DMin program aims broadly at congregational revitalization (or renewal in context), whether the ultimate project is a ministry focus paper (congregational specific) or a thesis (addressing some specific, often broader or more specialized constituency in the church).
