UDTS Adjunct and Affiliate Faculty: Using Assignments in Your Course Page

Assignments are online dropboxes for students to submit completed work to be reviewed and graded for the course.

In your course page, toggle the Edit Mode toggle to green (editing mode is now turned on)
In the section you wish to add an Assignment, click Add an Activity or Resource

On the next screen, give your assignment a title. Titles should be concise and may include deadlines and a brief description if you wish.
In the Assignment Instructions field, provide detailed instructions on how to complete the assignment. Be sure to include what learning the assignment is measuring, any prompts or questions you'd like students to respond to, any resources or citations required, how students know they have completed the assignment correctly, and an expected deadline.
If you wish, you may add files to the assignment. Adding documents to assignments follows similar steps to adding documents to your course page.
Under Availability, set the assignment deadline. You may optionally set allow submission from dates, cutoff dates, and reminders to grade dates.

Submission types can be restricted if you wish to online text, attached files, specific file types and file sizes.
Feedback types can be selected. This will be reviewed in depth in the grading section
For students to receive a grade for the assignment, under Grade, set the point value or scale you wish to grade on. Grading types will be reviewed in depth in the grading section.
When all options have been reviewed and adjusted, scroll to the bottom and click Save and Return to Course or Save and Display

Assignments should be used to measure student learning and should be tied to course learning outcomes
Assignments should have clear descriptions and expectations provided in advance for students
Assignments should be reviewed for a grade and feedback in a reasonable amount of time.
