Course Plan
The objective of this class is to equip students with basic skills that will support their preaching life in the local congregation. To this end, students will be introduced to and become conversant with the following topics:
- A Reformed Theology of Preaching
- An Accessible Strategy of Biblical Exegesis for Preaching
- Exposure to Different Ways of Preaching
- Basic Competency in One Form of Preaching
- Basic Skills in the Work of Homiletical Criticism.
Course Requirements
In order to achieve the objectives of this class, each student will complete the following:
- Complete reading assignments
- View assigned sermons online
- Participate in each week’s forums (post length depends on assignment)
- Complete an exegetical exercise that contributes to the sermon
- Complete two sermons (four pages each, double spaced)
- Provide feedback to peer sermons
