Introduction to New Testament

Course Description

This course serves as a basic introduction to the content and issues in the New Testament, the essential authoritative resource for the Christian church. Because of the breadth of the material in the New Testament, we will focus on important representative books: The Gospels ( Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John); Letters (Galatians, 1 Corinthians, Romans); a Sermon (1 Peter); an apocalypse (Revelation). As a CLP course, this introduction will pay special attention to pastoral and church issues in the chosen New Testament material.

Required Texts:

  • An English Bible, preferably a New Revised Standard Version, and preferably the Oxford Annotated Bible, a reference Bible with very helpful notes.
  • Our text will be Charles B.Cousar, An Introduction to the New Testament: Witnesses to God's New Work. (ISBN-13: 978-0664224134 )
